The older generation remembers the times when postal and telecommunication services were housed in the same building. Everything changed in 1995 with the establishment of the Republican State Association "Beltelecom" and its branches throughout the country. It was from that time that the RUES began its independent history.
We learned about what happened before and how the RUES operates today by talking with the head of the organization, Anatoly Kuprevich, on the eve of the professional holiday. The building, popularly known as the "telegraph office," is not the entire organization. It houses only the administrative and subscriber service facilities, while the linear-technical section is located on Depovskaya Street, near the GLHU "Lepel Leskhoz". This is where the equipment and workforce are concentrated.
Every year on May 7, all employees in this sector gather in the RUES assembly hall. A concert program and congratulations are mandatory. This year, pleasant news arrived from Minsk. Sergey Valentinovich Severin, a second-category engineer at the Lepel RUES station section, has been entered into the Book of Honor of RUP "Beltelecom"; the only higher award would be from the Ministry of Communications and Informatization. This is the second such case during Anatoly Vladimirovich's eight-year tenure. Naturally, the recognized employee will receive a monetary bonus. From the Vitebsk branch of RUP "Beltelecom," Vyacheslav Sivets will be presented with a Certificate of Honor, and Valentina Sobchenko will receive a letter of gratitude. Approximately twenty employees, recognized at the local level, will be awarded a bonus equivalent to one base unit. Another pleasant moment for the telecommunication workers is the decision by the district executive committee to recognize the enterprise as the best in the service sector for 2012.
