To familiarise themselves with the level of election preparedness, our town was visited by observers from the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Anatol Bekeshchenko and Murat Tashibaev. The guests' meeting took place at the district executive committee. Anatol Vasilievich and Murat Seitdzhanovich learned about the number of precinct election commissions, their representatives, familiarised themselves with the candidacies for the position of deputy, clarified the venues for candidates' meetings with voters, etc.

Representatives of the CIS Executive Committee met with the Chairman of the Lepel District Executive Committee, Pyotr Shikshnyan. Pyotr Genrikhovich informed the guests about the socio-economic development of our district, the modernisation of agricultural enterprises, the work on landscaping, street repairs, and housing construction.
Murat Tashibaev, Deputy Director of the Department for Cooperation in the Sphere of Security and Countering New Challenges and Threats, and Anatol Bekeshchenko, Head of the Department for Cooperation in Combating Offences, Terrorism and Drug Threats, noted that Lepel holds a worthy place in the Vitebsk region in terms of social infrastructure development.
Our guests gladly walked around the town square. Their attention was drawn to the well-maintained town square, the restored building of the district post office, and the blooming courtyard at the Civil Registry Office. The representatives of the CIS Executive Committee showed particular interest in a tour of the Lepel District House of Crafts. The wonderful works of the participants of the "Skarbonka" club of folk masters and artists – magnificent paintings, straw and clay products, woven towels, belts, and Belarusian national costumes – delighted the visitors. Nina Zvyagintseva, methodologist of the "Skarbonka" club of folk masters and artists, informed the guests in detail about the specifics of national costumes in a particular region and explained the process of creating towels, belts, etc.
