Statistical analysis provides interesting food for thought. Of the 19 accidents that occurred on the district's roads last year, 10 were caused by individual car owners registered in Lepel district, including two motorcyclists. Individual owners from other regions were responsible for eight accidents, and one accident was caused by a vehicle belonging to an organisation registered outside Lepel district.
Driver experience and seniority significantly influence road traffic accidents. Two accidents were caused by drivers with less than one year of experience. Another two were caused by drivers with one to three years of experience, and again, two accidents involved drivers with three to ten years of experience. The remaining accidents were caused by drivers with over ten years of experience.
As in previous years, the majority of accidents are caused by young people under 25 years of age; last year, five accidents occurred due to their fault. Fortunately, no accidents involving cyclists were recorded last year.
At the same time, State Automobile Inspectorate officers recorded 6,841 traffic violations. 198 vehicle drivers were detained while intoxicated, 15 of whom were repeat offenders within the year.
The second cause of road traffic accidents is speeding; 1,415 instances were detected last year. A significant fine is prescribed for such a violation, and for a repeat offense within the year, one can even lose their driving license for a certain period.
