10 May, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Decree No. 6 "On stimulating entrepreneurial activity in towns, small urban settlements, and rural areas" will boost investment activities in rural districts and strengthen the economic potential of the districts. This viewpoint was expressed in a conversation with a BELTA correspondent by the Chairman of the Braslav District Executive Committee, Sergey Shmatov. In his opinion, exemption from import customs duties and value-added tax on goods imported into Belarus as contributions to the authorized capital of commercial organizations in small towns and rural areas will become an effective incentive for attracting investments, creating new production facilities, and jobs. The provision of tax preferences will also positively impact the development of private initiative. The Braslav District Executive Committee intends to widely inform local entrepreneurs about the provisions of Decree No. 6, as well as to provide information on state support for business in Belarus to foreign partners. An investment forum will be held in the region in June, with 17 delegations from Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Estonia, Venezuela, and Ukraine having expressed their desire to participate. At this forum, potential investors will receive all necessary information about the opportunities opened up to them by the decree.-0-
