April 2, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Delegations from the Smolensk region will visit the Vitebsk region today to celebrate the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, reports a BELTA correspondent.
An impressive delegation, led by the administration of Smolensk, is expected in Orsha. Meetings with representatives of local executive authorities and business circles are planned here, during which issues of increasing the efficiency of bilateral cooperation in various fields will be discussed. Festive events will be held at the city's House of Culture, featuring a photo exhibition on previously held joint events, an exposition of works by artists from Orsha and Smolensk, and performances by creative groups from the two cities.
The Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov will become the centre of events in the regional centre. Within the framework of the I International Student Slavic Forum, a concert "Youth. Unity. Future", dedicated to strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the youth of the two Slavic peoples, will take place at the university. Students from Smolensk universities, who arrived in the regional centre as part of a delegation of 80 people, will take an active part in the festive performance.
Alongside hosting guests, representatives of the Vitebsk region are participating in festive events in Russian regions. In particular, representatives of the Dubrovno district have travelled to the settlement of Krasny in the Smolensk region, where they will celebrate the holiday today, and on April 4, they will participate in a seminar on the protection of historical and cultural heritage dedicated to the War of 1812.
Overall, events dedicated to the festive date will be held in the region throughout the week. On April 5, a teleconference will connect the twin cities of Novopolotsk and Elektrostal. A festive concert with the participation of a delegation from the Sebezhsky district will be held in Rossony. Numerous thematic events, competitions, and round tables are planned in the region's educational and cultural institutions.-0-
