For the first time, in accordance with the amendments and additions to the Constitution adopted two years ago in a republican referendum, the All-Belarusian People's Assembly has acquired the status of the supreme representative body of state power. Almost twelve hundred people, representing all regions and social groups of Belarus, high authorities and local self-government, and civil society, will gather to decide the most important issues of the country's development.
In fact, the future of the state and the people is in their hands, as the decisions they make cannot be repealed or challenged by any other authority. Delegates from all regions of Belarus set off for Minsk this morning to participate in the VII All-Belarusian People's Assembly, which will be held on April 24 and 25 at the Palace of the Republic. 1166 delegates will take part in the Assembly. The Assembly will operate in this capacity for the first time, and it is very important that the start is successful, and that the delegates' subsequent five-year work maintains a high standard, based on the interests and expectations of the country's residents.
