April 25, Minsk /BELTA/. Delegates of the VII All-Belarusian People's Congress approved the National Security Concept and the Military Doctrine, a BELTA correspondent reports.

Before voting on these documents, the Chairman of the All-Belarusian People's Congress, Alexander Lukashenko, drew the delegates' attention to the fact that in the future they would have to deal with such strategic and crucial issues for the country, among others.

"We perceive everything calmly. There is some concern, apprehension due to the events in Ukraine: saboteurs are being infiltrated, and so on. For now, we are resisting, but we are more or less relaxed. We discuss these issues freely. But the situation can change at any moment, God forbid. God forbid. And then this relaxation should not be there. It will disappear. Therefore, do not relax. The most important thing for us is not to relax. We are Belarusians: what happened in 2020 – it's over, what someone is preparing for someone – it's far away. Dear friends, it is not far away. Everything is very close. Therefore, it is better to know in advance and be prepared. That's the main thing," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko.

The delegates unanimously supported the updated documents.

The draft of the new version of the National Security Concept was approved on February 20, 2023, at a meeting of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus. Before submitting it for approval by the All-Belarusian People's Congress, the Head of State instructed to conduct a public discussion. Over the year, more than 70 discussion platforms were organized to discuss the main innovations of the Concept in all regions of the country, in government bodies and organizations, labor collectives, educational institutions, trade union and public associations with the involvement of representatives of the scientific and expert community, major religious denominations, and civil society entities. To ensure maximum audience reach, the text of the new Concept was also posted on the National Legal Internet Portal of the Republic of Belarus.
