The Prime Minister of Belarus, Roman Golovchenko, proposed holding a SCO National Cultures Day at the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" international arts festival in July 2024. He made this proposal during a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO.
Roman Golovchenko noted that Belarus expects to become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in the very near future. He outlined a number of areas that are important for all participants in the SCO space. One of these is intercultural dialogue.
"In the context of growing fragmentation in the world and the chaotic nature of international relations, this factor takes on special significance. The SCO's cultural space is multifaceted, and its potential must be effectively used to enhance the interconnectedness of all countries in the organisation's region. As an element of strengthening intercultural dialogue, we propose to hold a SCO National Cultures Day under the auspices of the culture ministers of the organisation's member states within the framework of the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" international arts festival in July 2024," said the Prime Minister.
In his opinion, this event could become a unique platform for showcasing the richness and diversity of the cultures of the SCO countries.
