October 18, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. A family-type children's home will open today in the Orsha district, the Orsha District Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.
The new facility has been built in the agrotown of Zabolotye. It will be home to the foster family of Svetlana Dashkevich and Andrey Torgan, who are raising seven children: two of their own and five adopted. Today, the happy family is receiving guests. Representatives of local and regional authorities, and OJSC "ASB Belarusbank", which allocated about Br3.2 billion for the construction of the house, will gather to congratulate them on their housewarming. The CEO of SOOO "Belvest", Yuri Sumaneev, will present certificates for shoes to the family members.
The district executive committee noted that currently, there are already two family-type children's homes operating in the Orsha district (in Orsha and the village of Esipovo), where 15 children are being raised.
A total of 19 family-type children's homes are functioning in the Vitebsk region, housing over 140 children. Two such facilities were opened this year – in the Braslav and Ushachi districts. The construction of three more is currently underway: in the Tolochin, Beshenkovichi, and Vitebsk districts. Their completion is scheduled for the end of this year. According to the latest data, over 4,000 orphans live in the region, with about 70% of them being raised in family settings. 1.2 thousand children are growing up in 800 foster families.-0-
