The director of a private enterprise in the Verkhnedvinsk district evaded payment of Br138 million in taxes, the Department of Financial Investigations of the State Control Committee for the Vitebsk region informed a BELTA correspondent. In the second half of 2010, the 53-year-old head of a private unitary artistic and construction enterprise, who was engaged in the construction and finishing of houses, intentionally failed to enter primary accounting documents into the company's accounting records to conceal the profit received. Thus, he understated the enterprise's profit tax by Br138.4 million. This fact was revealed during one of the State Control Committee's inspections. A criminal case has been initiated against the director for tax evasion, resulting in damage of a particularly large scale, by the Department of Financial Investigations of the State Control Committee for the Vitebsk region under Part 2 of Article 243 of the Criminal Code of Belarus, which provides for up to seven years of imprisonment with possible confiscation of property and deprivation of the right to hold certain positions. -0-
