15 June, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. The Directorate of the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" festival is concerned about the increase in counterfeit products bearing the official symbols of the international arts festival. This was announced at a press conference by the General Director of the "Vitebsk" Cultural Centre, Director of the Festival Directorate, Rodion Bass, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. The illegal use of the registered trademark of the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" festival continues, despite the Directorate's efforts to widely inform manufacturers. Only 12 enterprises in the Vitebsk region have concluded agreements for the right to use the trademark. Meanwhile, various souvenir products with the festival emblem, produced in different parts of Belarus, are appearing on the shelves of kiosks and shops. Conscientious sellers have already raised the alarm and have approached the Directorate with a request for clarification on the possibility of selling such products. In this situation, the festival Directorate intends to take serious measures to protect its brand. It has sought assistance from lawyers specializing in intellectual property protection. Rodion Bass does not rule out the possibility of filing lawsuits against some unscrupulous manufacturers. The commercialisation of the brand is not a whim of the Directorate, but a global practice, emphasised Rodion Bass. Furthermore, it is an opportunity to replenish the festival's budget, making it more spectacular and attractive, and to reduce budget expenditures. With the support of Vitebsk enterprises, the festival Directorate has released several types of souvenir products: postcards, badges, posters, and even a non-circulating coin. However, the capabilities of the "Vitebsk" Cultural Centre do not allow for the production of these goods in the required quantities to meet demand.
