13 December, Minsk / Yekaterina Nechayeva - BELTA/. The Central Election Commission of Belarus has accredited 930 international observers to work during the presidential elections. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Central Commission for Elections and National Referendums. According to the CEC, 406 representatives of the OSCE ODIHR, 257 from the CIS, and 6 from the CIS Permanent Committee intend to monitor the presidential elections. Parliamentarians from other countries have also been accredited to participate in the observation (82 representatives from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, 45 from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, 10 from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, and 11 observers from the parliaments of foreign countries). 24 representatives from foreign Central Election Commissions and 48 representatives from diplomatic and consular missions of foreign states intend to observe the presidential elections in Belarus. In addition, 41 independent observers intend to monitor the voting process. These are mainly well-known foreign politicians who work outside of missions and provide their personal independent assessment of the elections. It is expected that approximately 1,000 people will come to Belarus in total to observe the presidential elections. Belarus holds first place in the CIS and the world in terms of the density of international observers per polling station. Traditionally, Belarusian citizens, parties, and public associations also actively participate in observing the presidential elections. To date, 17,885 local observers have been accredited by election commissions throughout the country, including over 2,900 citizens, 2,070 representatives of work collectives, 924 observers from political parties, and 11,987 from public associations.-0-
