The colossal tragedy of the entire nation, the pain and suffering that almost every family went through, live on in the memory of Belarusians. And the main task of adults is to pass this memory on to the younger generation.
Today, a dialogue platform "Genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War" was held at Secondary School No. 3 in Lepel, with the participation of Vitaliy Mikhailovich Zhigimont, Senior Justice Advisor of the Prosecutor of Lepel District:
During the Great Patriotic War, monstrous crimes against humanity by the Nazis were committed on our land in terms of scale and cruelty. Destroyed cities, hundreds of concentration camps, millions of dead. And our land still holds evidence of these atrocities.
The state is doing everything possible to bring the perpetrators to justice. Four years ago, the Prosecutor General's Office initiated a criminal case regarding the genocide of the Belarusian people. Archival materials, reports of punitive detachments, testimonies of eyewitnesses. Each accusation is documented and substantiated.
For our country, the International Day of Commemoration of the Victims of Genocide is a particularly sorrowful date.
