To ensure the safety of the most vulnerable road users, from January 15-19, the State Automobile Inspectorate will conduct the national preventive campaign "Save Your Life!"

To prevent road traffic accidents involving pedestrians, extensive awareness campaigns will be organized on the importance of strictly adhering to traffic regulations, and safety measures at pedestrian crossings and when travelling outside populated areas. Special attention will be paid to the mandatory use of retro-reflective elements during dark hours and in conditions of poor visibility.

“Traffic police officers and all public security police will intensify traffic supervision, especially during dark hours. Not only pedestrians who grossly violate traffic regulations but also drivers who do not observe speed limits and crossing rules will not escape responsibility. Patrols from the special traffic police unit "Strela" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will assist districts with the most challenging traffic situations,” law enforcement officials emphasized.

On patrol routes, inspectors will monitor the serviceability of external lighting, the occurrence of switched-off streetlights during the night, as well as the work of organizations responsible for maintaining streets and roads in a safe condition during winter.

“All road users need to be sensible on the road, anticipate the actions of others, and report any intoxicated individuals on the carriageway posing a safety risk by calling 102,” road safety officers concluded.
