In Vitebsk, the collection of signatures in support of presidential candidates continues. A correspondent for "Vitebskiye Vesti" attended a picket organised at the "Marko-City" shopping centre in the regional capital. Olga Klemyat, a member of the initiative group, noted that the picket was timed for lunchtime, when the centre is busiest. Vitebsk residents have actively joined the process.
Dmitry Demidov, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, also visited during lunchtime to cast his signature in support of the nominated candidate.
– I believe it is the duty of every citizen of the Republic of Belarus to take an active part in all stages of the election campaign, within their capabilities and involvement in public life, and based on their civic consciousness, – stated the head of the region's parliamentary body. – Many people are currently working in initiative groups, collecting signatures for candidates. Subsequently, by participating in the life of public associations and political parties, citizens with an active civic stance will serve as observers in the regional and territorial election commissions. This important work, as a whole, demonstrates the maturity of our society.
Everything that has been achieved during the existence of sovereign Belarus deserves immense respect, said Dmitry Demidov. It is important to strive to maintain a course focused on social support for the population, making life in Belarus more convenient, comfortable, and prosperous.
– It is important for Belarusians that the country remains sovereign, peaceful, and independent, and that we are not overwhelmed by waves of discord, chaos, or destructive manifestations. We, as citizens of our country, are required to participate most actively in all stages of the election campaign, – emphasised Dmitry Demidov. – In 2024, we successfully conducted the electoral campaign for the selection of deputies at all levels with a high degree of patriotic enthusiasm. All deputies were elected and are already working effectively. I believe that the 2025 elections will also be held at a high organisational level with the absolute support of the population.
