On August 1, Belarusian student teams will celebrate their professional holiday with a day of intensive work titled "Labour is Cool!". On the same day, meetings with veterans of the movement, sports and creative events will be held, BELTA was informed by the Republican Headquarters of Student Teams of BRSM.
The Day of Student Teams appeared in the late 1960s. "And although it is not listed in the calendar of official holidays, for those who have been in a student team at least once, this day, August 1, has a special meaning," the student teams' headquarters noted.
The student team movement is one of the leading activities of BRSM. Since 2003, the student team movement, through all forms of secondary employment, has united over 975 thousand young people. Decree No. 181 of April 16, 2012, has significantly expanded opportunities for its development.
As part of student teams, young people work on the reconstruction and construction of roads, schools and kindergartens, sports complexes, and residential buildings across the country, harvest crops, and care for children in children's health resorts. According to the latest data, student teams are planned to work at 1.2 thousand sites, where almost 40.7 thousand jobs have been created for young people.
The joint Belarusian-Russian student team is actively working at the construction sites of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, which has been declared an All-Belarusian Youth Construction Project. Among other significant facilities where student teams are working are the central district hospital in Ostrovets, the operating unit of the Mogilev Regional Oncology Dispensary, and the Republican Centre for Olympic Training in Rhythmic Gymnastics.
In addition, Belarusian student teams are working in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation - at the All-Russian Children's Centre "Orlyonok", the children's health resort complex "Zhemchuzhina Rossii", and also in Poland.
"As practice has shown, temporary employment within student teams not only addresses financial interests but also enhances the social activity of young people, creates conditions for socially useful activities, and has immense educational value," the headquarters emphasized.
