On November 17, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Latvia Days in Vitebsk will be held to the music of the Daugava brass band, BELTA was informed at the Vitebsk City Executive Committee.
Latvia Days, which celebrates its national holiday - the Day of the Proclamation of the Republic of Latvia on November 18, traditionally take place in Vitebsk in November. Events prepared jointly by the Center of Latvian Culture, the Department of Culture of the city of Daugavpils, the Consulate of the Republic of Latvia in Vitebsk and the Vitebsk Culture Center are timed to coincide with this event.
This time, the Daugava professional brass band will perform a concert in the Vitebsk Concert Hall. The ensemble is a regular participant in all cultural events held in Daugavpils, national song and dance festivals in Latvia, and a laureate of international brass band festivals in Hungary, Lithuania, and Poland. The band's repertoire includes classical, folk, and jazz music, much of which consists of popular musical rhythms from world-famous musicals and works by Latvian composers. Soloist of the National Latvian Opera Ilona Bagel and popular young performer, laureate of the Vladimir Mulyavin Prize of the XX International Festival of Pop Song Performers "Vitebsk-2011" Dainis Skutelis will take part in the festive concert.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia has prepared a travelling photo exhibition about song and dance festivals in Latvia, held under the motto "When many become one". The exhibition includes about 40 photographs by various Latvian authors. The photographs tell an emotional story, showing both the preparation process for song and dance festivals - rehearsals, reviews, and the festivals themselves. The main goal of the exhibition is to promote the recognition of Latvia's cultural traditions in the world. Thanks to the Consulate of the Republic of Latvia in Vitebsk, the exhibition will be held in the regional center. Its opening is scheduled for November 21, and it can be viewed until December 1.
International cooperation in the field of culture has always been an attribute and a guarantee of warm, friendly relations between various nations and states. As emphasized at the City Executive Committee, Vitebsk intends to continue to be a starting point for successful cultural interactions with countries of far abroad and the nearest neighbors of the Republic of Belarus. -0-
