Lyubov Trakhovtsova, chief specialist of the Lepel District Inspectorate for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, spoke at a regular meeting of the presidium of the district council of deputies about the state and measures to improve the environmental situation in the territory of the Kamensky village council.

Significant positive changes have occurred in the village council in recent years. There is more order in the settlements, and the lands adjacent to the settlements have become cleaner. There have also been changes for the better in people's awareness, their level of information, and their attitude towards environmental protection and maintaining order on the land.

A significant number of surface water bodies are located in the territory of the village council - lakes Babcha, Negraza, Dzevochaye, Shkolnoye, Charosovo, Kabak, Ladasna, and others. Dairy farms are located in the water protection zones - in the agro-town of Chareyshchina (water zone of the Ulitsinka stream), in the village of Babcha (water zone of Lake Baba), in the village of Kabak (Lake Kabak), in the village of Myageli (water zone of an unnamed stream), and a calf barn in the village of Kurmelyovka (water zone of Lake Ladasna). During raid inspections, it was established that there was unremoved organic matter at the livestock farms in the settlements of Myageli, Kurmelyovka, Kabak (OAO "Ladasna"), and the livestock farm in the agro-town of Chareyshchina (OAO "Chareyshchina"), which is a violation of Articles 72 and 77 of the Water Code of the Republic of Belarus.

The majority of the settlements in the village council are supplied with drinking water from underground water sources - 13 artesian wells, 12 of which are on the balance sheet of KUVP "Borovka", and one is managed by OAO "Chareyshchina". It is used for water supply to the livestock farm in the village of Zabarye. At the artesian wells on the balance sheet of KUVP "Borovka", the requirements of environmental legislation are fully met (passports are available, sanitary protection zone projects have been developed, and strict regime zones are fenced). At the artesian well on the farm in Zabarye of OAO "Chareyshchina", the fence is broken, and sanitary protection zone projects are missing. In addition, there are six non-operational artesian wells in the territory of the village council (two in Zabarye, as well as in Chareyshchina, Pyaski, Parechcha, and Myageli). The wells have not been plugged, which poses a real threat of groundwater contamination.
