The regional gastronomic festival "Bulba-Kartoshka-Potatoes" was held on Freedom Square in Vitebsk as part of the II CIS Games. Potato rolls, chips, traditional draniki (potato pancakes), and other dishes made from Belarus's staple vegetable were presented, and were available for everyone to try.
Various public catering and educational institutions, as well as home cooks from different parts of our region, presented their potato dishes.
Here, one could not only taste freshly prepared draniki and french fries but also play checkers, compete in assembling jigsaw puzzles, take photos with life-size cartoon characters, and enjoy a concert programme featuring cultural institutions from different districts of our region.
For those interested in learning which potato varieties grow best in the Vitebsk region and how Belarus's staple vegetable is cultivated from test tubes, a visit to the site of RUP "Vitebsk Zonal Institute of Agriculture of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" was available.
