On August 25, Lepel District / Andrei Asfura - BELTA /. A festival-competition of local cuisine was held in Lepel District, reports BELTA correspondent.
The festival was held on the shore of Lake Lepel. Participants of the event were treated to local dishes: a piglet stuffed with buckwheat, fried pike, and stuffed chicken. Belarusians and Russians gathered to taste Belarusian delicacies.
The culinary festival is interesting not only for tasting but also for the competition of local dishes. Moreover, both amateurs and professionals participated in it.
Guests of the festival acted as the jury, who chose the best dish of the festival – draniki with a surprise. The winner was awarded a cash prize of Br1 million.
The gastronomic theme was continued by a fair of environmentally friendly products. Lepel honey sparkled on the market stalls, and local apples ripened. Craftsmen in straw weaving also presented their products.
The organizers tried to involve visitors in the cooking process during a master class. It was conducted by chef and TV presenter Andrei Bibikov. Other festival participants could also show their talents.
The culinary festival is designed to draw attention to the tourist and ethnocultural potential of Lepel District. In the future, it may grow into a regional fair where not only chefs but also folk craftsmen will demonstrate their talents.
For now, however, the festival does not have its own name. The organizers promise to fix this, but by the next holiday.
By the way, this is not the only culinary festival in Belarus. Similar events are held in Ivanovo and Rossony districts. At the "Motalskiye prismaki" festival, which took place in the agro-town of Motol, visitors were surprised by giant vegetable sculptures, a straw mill, a sausage dragon, and a 1.5-ton bull.-0-
