Two brothers have died within 24 hours in the Glubokoye district, with one of them perishing in a fire, the propaganda and training centre at the regional emergency services department informed a BELTA correspondent. The report of a fire in one of the houses in the village of Matyukovo was received today around three in the morning from an ambulance crew returning from a call and passing by the village. By the time rescuers arrived, the house was engulfed in flames. When the emergency services managed to extinguish the fire, the body of the deceased owner, born in 1954, was discovered inside. According to preliminary data, the tragedy was caused by careless handling of fire while smoking. An investigation is underway into this incident. It has been established that the man lived with his younger brother, born in 1957, who died the day before the fire and whose body is currently at the district morgue. The previous evening, another death in a fire was recorded in the regional centre. A 50-year-old Vitebsk resident died in a fire in an unoccupied house. It has been established that the unemployed man had illegally occupied the residential building. Careless handling of fire while smoking is also being considered as the preliminary cause of the fire. -0-
