March 3, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Two family-type children's homes will open this year in the Vitebsk region, the education department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.
The first to open its doors will be a family-type children's home in the agro-town of Ulla, Beshenkovichi district. Over Br1.3 billion from the regional and republican budgets have been spent on the construction of the facility, built according to a standard design. More than Br150 million has been allocated from the district budget for the purchase of furniture, household equipment, and other essential items. Sponsorship from various enterprises, organizations, individual entrepreneurs, and private individuals was also attracted for these purposes.
The house is ready to receive its residents. The cheerful voices of children will fill it on March 6. Representatives of local authorities, the regional education department, and sponsors will gather to congratulate the friendly family of new residents – foster parent-educator Irina Adamovich, with over 10 years of experience in this position, her four foster children, and her biological son.
In the second quarter, a similar joyous event will take place in the Tolochin district, where work on opening a family-type children's home is also at the final stage.
In total, including these two, 22 family-type children's homes have been opened in the Vitebsk region. The construction of new facilities is planned for this year in the Rossony and Sharkovshchina districts. In addition, the construction of children's homes is ongoing at the expense of banking institutions in the Vitebsk and Rossony districts.
A total of 3921 orphans live in the Vitebsk region, three-quarters of whom are raised in substitute families.-0-
