Than you, small town,
Not because you are dear to me,
But because I haven't seen
Anything more beautiful…
These wonderful verses were dedicated to our town by the Belarusian poet Petrus Brovka. They are remembered every time one sees the unique landscapes of the Lepel region. Two years ago, when Lepel brightly and unforgettably celebrated its 570th anniversary, a wonderful tradition was born – to celebrate Lepel's birthday every year.
Representatives of the local authorities, collectives of city organizations and enterprises are doing their utmost to ensure that the celebration leaves an unforgettable impression on the guests. Since early morning last Saturday, many pleasant surprises were prepared for the residents of the district. The exhibition of sports equipment, organized on Svaboda Square, attracted great interest from everyone. The opening of the third stage of the Belarusian Jeep Trial Championship competitions also took place here. A significant event of the festive day was the opening of the decorative and animalistic sculptural composition "Pytachok", which symbolizes the thriftiness, vigilance, cheerfulness of spirit and industriousness of the people.
The exhibition "Lepel and Lepel Residents" was presented to the guests. Bright photographs told about the activities of city organizations and enterprises, and an exhibition dedicated to the history of the city was also very informative. Skilled and generous hosts, representatives of rural councils, sincerely invited guests to their courtyards, where delicious treats were prepared for everyone. You could also have fun here – sing your favorite song and dance. Trade was brisk. On the shop windows of the Lepel District Consumer Society, delicacies, meat and culinary products were sincerely offered to the residents of Lepel. A wonderful concert, prepared on the stage of the summer amphitheater, gave the residents of Lepel many positive emotions. The performances of the instrumental group of the Stayskaya Music School of Traditional Culture, the exemplary folklore ensemble "Sunichki", the young dancers of the Lepel Children's Art School and other collectives lifted everyone's spirits.
For two days, our native town buzzed merrily. Both adults and children had a great time and had fun.
