The crew of Vladimir Lavtsevich and Pavel Shulga from JSC "Dokshitsy Rayagropromservice" was the first in the Vitebsk region to thresh 2 thousand tons of grain, as reported to BELTA correspondent by the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the Trade Union of Agricultural Workers. The second significant milestone for the machine operators in the harvest was overcome by the Dokshitsy team on August 13, despite the morning rain. This crew has already received congratulations and gifts from the farm manager, representatives of regional and district authorities for threshing 1 thousand tons of grain during the current harvesting campaign, the trade union noted. Currently, there are over 50 crews that have threshed a thousand tons of grain in the Vitebsk region, including nine youth crews. The majority of youth crews that have threshed a thousand tons of grain are working in the Orsha district (five), two are in the Chashniki district, and one each in the Verkhnedvinsk and Postavy districts. The crew of Petr Dukhovich and Artur Leyko from Agricultural Production Farm "Zaozerie" of Lepel district has threshed over 1.5 thousand tons of grain. With favorable weather, this team has every chance of becoming the second crew to thresh two thousand tons of grain. As of August 13, a total of 285.3 thousand hectares of grain crops have been mown in the region, which is 54.4% of the cultivated area. The average yield in the region is 32.1 centners per hectare. The work of the agricultural producers is interrupted by rains, which affects the pace of harvesting. Over the last day, the pace has decreased to 2.7% of the cultivated area. To harvest the grown crop as quickly and fully as possible – and this year's crop is quite good, as 915.2 thousand tons of grain have already been threshed – the rural workers are using all resources and opportunities, including night harvesting. The harvesting campaign is progressing most actively in the Glubokoe and Chashniki districts, where 74% and 80.7% of the areas have already been mown, respectively. The remaining regions of the oblast, with the exception of the Braslav, Gorodok, and Rossony districts, have surpassed the 50 percent mark. -0-
