13 February, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Environmentalists are asking residents of the Vitebsk region to help feed waterfowl that have remained for the winter. The Vitebsk Regional Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection has issued such an appeal, reports a BELTA correspondent. A considerable number of swans and ducks, receiving additional food from people, get used to it and do not fly away to warmer regions in the autumn. Therefore, now, when the frosts are raging, the birds really need human help. In Vitebsk alone, on non-freezing sections of the canal on Titov Street, on the Vitba and Western Dvina rivers, near the city's wastewater treatment facilities, 30 to 60 ducks gather daily. -0-
