Vitebsk environmentalists fined the closed joint-stock company (CJSC) "Vitebskagropromproduct" eight times in a year and included it in the "black" list, Tatiana Yasyulina, chief specialist of the Vitebsk Regional Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, told a BELTA correspondent. The enterprise and its officials were brought to administrative responsibility for repeated violations of environmental legislation, in particular for carrying out economic activities for the maintenance and fattening of 3 thousand pigs without conducting state environmental expertise, for unauthorized water use without a permit for special water use. In 2010 and 2011, two emergency situations were recorded at the branches of the enterprise, which led to the pollution of water bodies. In addition, during the inspection, it was found that at one of the complexes, the actual number of pigs exceeds the design capacity by 1.6 times, while no measures are being taken to reconstruct the manure removal system. As a legal entity, CJSC "Vitebskagropromproduct" was brought to administrative responsibility in the form of a fine, and a claim for Br85 million was filed for causing environmental damage. In terms of the amount of the claim filed, "Vitebskagropromproduct" surpassed another malicious violator of environmental legislation and its neighbor on the "black" list - the unitary enterprise of housing and communal services of the Rossony district, which has claims for compensation for environmental damage totaling Br23.7 million. In 2011, the regional committee and its structural divisions conducted 835 planned and unscheduled inspections. Based on their results, business entities were instructed to eliminate about 12 thousand measures. Based on the results of inspection activities in 2011, the committee and its structural divisions brought 4.3 thousand violators of environmental legislation to administrative responsibility. Fines were imposed on 1.9 thousand officials for Br179.6 million, on 1.3 thousand citizens and individual entrepreneurs - for Br69.7 million, on 712 legal entities - for Br350.3 million. -0-
