29 May, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. The ecological campaign "Clean Air" will be held in June in the Vitebsk region, the Vitebsk Regional Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection informed a BELTA correspondent.
The campaign will start on June 1 and is aimed at reducing the harmful impact of motor transport on the atmospheric air. In each district of the region, as well as in Vitebsk, Polotsk, Novopolotsk, and Orsha, state control will be exercised over compliance with the laws "On Environmental Protection" and "On Atmospheric Air Protection". For this purpose, joint work plans have been developed with territorial units of the State Automobile Inspectorate to inspect the vehicles of motor transport enterprises, service stations, and citizens' vehicles. Raid groups will check compliance with the norms and requirements of state standards for exhaust gas toxicity and smoke by private car owners, the availability of control and adjustment points in motor transport organizations and service stations, and their equipment with toxicity and smoke control devices. Special attention will be paid to the correct use of diagnostic devices and methods for vehicles released to the line, and the implementation by motor transport enterprises of measures to reduce atmospheric pollution from transport emissions.
The holding of this ecological campaign makes a real contribution to reducing the volume of pollutant emissions from motor vehicles, which have a negative impact on public health and the environment, the committee emphasized.-0-
