26 May, Polotsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Economic ties between the Russian city of Elektrostal and the Belarusian city of Polotsk will grow thanks to the Single Economic Space. This viewpoint was expressed in a conversation with a BELTA correspondent by the head of the urban district of Elektrostal, Andrey Sukhanov, who is heading the delegation of the Russian city at the anniversary celebrations in Polotsk. Elektrostal and Polotsk have maintained constant contacts in both humanitarian and economic spheres for over 15 years. "Elektrostal has many twin cities, but Polotsk holds a special place among them because the Belarusian people are the closest and dearest to Russians. People are friends, they communicate, they seek economic ties," said the head of the city. The economic integration of Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan has significantly simplified contacts between enterprises in Polotsk and Elektrostal. For example, dairy products for Elektrostal schools are purchased from the Polotsk Dairy Plant. "Previously, we had to overcome many formalities, but now the supply process has been significantly simplified thanks to the removal of customs barriers," stated Andrey Sukhanov. He is convinced that economic contacts between the two partner cities will only develop further. Delegations from 16 partner cities arrived at the celebrations in honor of Polotsk's anniversary. They will not only be spectators of the festive events but also participants – the delegations brought with them creative groups that have prepared congratulations for the jubilee city. -0-
