Experts from the World Health Organization mission today familiarized themselves with the work of three healthcare facilities in Vitebsk.
WHO representatives chose the facilities they wished to visit themselves. These included the ambulance station, the regional infectious diseases hospital, and the city clinical emergency hospital, where patients with pneumonia and coronavirus infection are being treated in the therapeutic ward.
"The experts observed how the staff work, visited the department where contact patients and those with confirmed coronavirus infection are being treated. There were no specific remarks or complaints; they received comprehensive answers to all their questions," said Mikhail Vishnevetsky, head of the main department for healthcare of the regional executive committee, speaking to journalists.
The WHO delegation met with the leadership of the northern region and Leonid Anfimov, Chairman of the Committee for State Control. The experts communicated with specialists from the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health and Valery Semenov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor at Vitebsk State Medical University. Under his leadership, a group of researchers developed test systems for detecting COVID-19.
The WHO mission arrived in Belarus on April 7. It will make a preliminary conclusion on the COVID-19 situation in our country on April 11.
