The export of products from enterprises of the Vitebsk region to Russian regions increased by 4.2% in 2019.

In 2019, enterprises of the Vitebsk region exported products worth almost $978 million to Russian regions, which is 4.2% more than in 2018, according to the foreign economic activity department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's economy committee.

Product supplies increased in six out of eight Russian federal districts. An increase of 1.5 times or more was achieved through cooperation with partners from 16 regions. The most dynamic export growth was observed in remote Russian regions: to the Magadan Oblast, North Ossetia-Alania, and Khakassia – more than 3 times; to the Amur and Irkutsk Oblasts, and Khabarovsk and Primorsky Krais – 2.5-2.8 times; to the Krasnoyarsk Krai and Stavropol Krai – 1.5 times. Shipments of Vitebsk goods to the Republic of Ingushetia, Kamchatka Krai, and the Jewish Autonomous Oblast have resumed after a break.

Consumer goods predominated in the structure of exports to Russia, accounting for almost 47%, of which 24.4% were food products. Vitebsk manufacturers most actively supply products from the petrochemical and machine-tool industries, dairy products, knitwear, garments, and carpets, as well as linen fabrics. In 2019, peat sales increased by almost 3 times, veterinary drug supplies doubled, polyethylene exports grew by 40%, flax fibre by 30%, linen fabrics by 13%, metal structures by 17.4%, and medical instruments by 7.2%.

In 2019, high-tech goods worth $285 million were shipped to Russian partners, accounting for 55% of the total volume of innovative exports from the Vitebsk region.

The main suppliers of products to Russia include enterprises of the "Vitebsk Meat and Dairy Products" State Concern, OJSC "Naftan", as well as residents of the FEZ "Vitebsk", including "Prodeksim" LLC, "VIK – Animal Health" UP, "Energokomplekt Production Association" LLC, "Allianceplast" LLC, OJSC "Vitebskiye Kovry", OJSC "Vityaz", SOOO "Natrix", OJSC "Polotsk-Steklovolokno", IOOO "Soyuz-kabel", SOOO "Novopolotsk Plant of Technological Metal Structures".

The development of interregional cooperation is of great importance for strengthening business partnerships, as noted by the Foreign Economic Relations Department. There are 25 cooperation agreements in effect between the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and Russian regions, and over 100 documents have been signed by districts and cities that are developing contacts with the corresponding territorial entities of Russian regions. In 2019, visits of Vitebsk delegations to 8 cities and regions of Russia were organised. Representatives of the business circles of Krasnodar Krai, Nizhny Novgorod, Chelyabinsk, and Astrakhan regions visited the northern Belarusian region. In addition, more than 20 delegations from Russian regions participated in the International Investment Forum, which is traditionally held in spring in Vitebsk. In turn, representatives of the Vitebsk region participated in almost 180 business events of various formats and representation organised in Russia.
