During the campaign (pre-New Year days), New Year trees decorated with children's photographs will be installed in six major shopping centres of the city. On the back of the card, the children wrote down their wishes for gifts they would like to receive for the New Year. Visitors can help make their dreams come true by purchasing gifts in the shopping area and handing them over to volunteers, indicating the name of the child for whom they are intended. A souvenir will be given in return as a token of gratitude for their kindness. These have already been prepared by the children in anticipation of the winter holidays.
The Vitebsk City Organisation of the BRC is the organiser of the event. About a hundred volunteers responded to its invitation to provide assistance. "Students and people of mature age expressed their willingness to participate in the campaign. They will distribute flyers to shop visitors and give souvenirs to those who helped the children fulfil their wishes," Mikhail Gusachenko added.
Thanks to the "New Year's Tree of Wishes," over 500 children from eight social institutions in Vitebsk received gifts last year.
