The foreign policy agenda, preparation of a number of visits and international meetings of the Head of State were discussed at a meeting between President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and the leadership of the government and the Presidential Administration, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"The topic of our conversation is international meetings, negotiations. First of all, my visits. You know that the year has been intense, especially the summer-autumn period. And we postponed a number of visits to a later period. Frankly speaking, to winter. Therefore, in general, there is a certain congestion," the Head of State outlined the topic for discussion.
Alexander Lukashenko mentioned the development of cooperation with African countries, including Equatorial Guinea and Zimbabwe. "We agreed to visit certain countries," he noted. "I think that at the climate summit, which will take place soon in Dubai, I will meet with the presidents of certain African states and arrange negotiations and, if necessary, visits to African countries with them."
The President emphasized: "All of you must understand, this is a distant arc of our cooperation, but this does not mean that these are distant countries." "We have good relations with some of them. Including trade and economic ones. This is primarily Zimbabwe. And through Zimbabwe - to other neighboring states," the Head of State explained.
According to him, there is interest from Mozambique. "We agreed during the negotiations with the President of Zimbabwe (Emmerson Mnangagwa. - BELTA's note) that we should involve Mozambique. They asked a lot, they are interested in us repeating the Zimbabwean experience in Mozambique. I mean food, baby food, healthcare. So that we can help them in something, transfer technologies to them in those sectors where we have certain competencies," the President said.
Alexander Lukashenko spoke separately about cooperation with Equatorial Guinea. "They are waiting for us. We have done a lot of work on cooperation with this country in terms of developing a specific plan - a roadmap. What is the current situation? - the Belarusian leader inquired. - We will most likely meet with the President (Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. - BELTA's note) in the Emirates, we will discuss the issue of my visit there. But I would like to hear how this visit is prepared."
