Power engineers continue to restore electricity supply in 82 settlements of the Vitebsk region, according to the Telegram channel of RUP "Vitebskenergo".

Since December 29, the personnel of the electric grid branches of RUP "Vitebskenergo" have been working in a high alert mode. Brigades worked around the clock, eliminating emergency power outages caused by freezing rain and strong winds in difficult weather conditions.

The Vitebsk, Orsha, Gorodok, and Liozno districts were most affected by the elements. Brigades from all electric grid branches of the enterprise, as well as brigades from RUP "Minskenergo", PMK-3, and forestry enterprises, were involved in eliminating the emergency situation. By the evening of December 31, electricity supply to over 600 settlements had been restored. The remaining outages were eliminated on January 1.

However, on January 2 and 3, heavy wet snow with blizzard occurred in certain districts. Under the weight of the accumulated snow, trees fell and tilted, and power lines and supports could not withstand the load. As a result, the electricity supply to settlements in the Verkhnedvinsk, Postavy, Sharkovshchina, Rossony, and Polotsk districts was disrupted. To speed up emergency recovery work, colleagues from RUP "Grodnoenergo" and RUP "Minskenergo" arrived to assist the power engineers of the "Polotsk Electric Networks" branch.

As of 12:00 today, work is ongoing to restore electricity supply in 82 settlements of the region. 34 brigades, consisting of 97 people and 33 units of equipment, are involved in eliminating the consequences of the disaster. Operational switching is being carried out, consumers are being supplied through backup power supply schemes, and diesel generator sets are being used to restore power supply to the population.
