"The enterprise has been implementing a program for modernizing electricity metering devices since 2016. The main goal of the energy providers is to phase out obsolete induction meters and replace them with modern electronic metering devices. This program is nearing completion this year," the enterprise explained.
Energy workers in the northern region have been installing this new type of meter with a split architecture for the second year. "The enterprise's fleet of devices includes over 5.6 thousand such SPLIT meters," specialists added.
A SPLIT meter is structurally divided into two parts: a measuring unit and a portable indicator device, the "remote control". The first part includes the measuring block. It is fixed at a hard-to-reach height on a power line pole to which the branch to the input device of a residential building is connected. The second part, the remote control, remains with the consumer and displays the readings.
In January, the Ministry of Energy reported that the implementation of SPLIT meters would be expanded in all regions of Belarus. These devices allow users to take readings remotely from a computer or mobile phone.
