Cooperation options in the energy sector were discussed during the visit to Vitebsk of a delegation from the Republic of Zimbabwe, led by the Minister of Energy of this African country, Mr. July Moyo.
As explained by Dmitry Lukyanin, Head of the Foreign Economic Relations and International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Energy of Belarus, the business trip is intended to identify common ground that serves the interests of both parties. July Moyo familiarised himself with the capabilities of the region's energy sector, visited the Vitebsk Hydroelectric Power Plant, the electrical network district, and the enterprises "Vitstroytehmash" and "Energokomplekt," where he showed interest in their products and the possibility of their use in his country.
The machine-building plant "Vitstroytehmash," which is a leading Belarusian enterprise in the production of lifting and handling equipment, manufactures machinery for various fields, including energy. Representatives of Zimbabwe were shown new products, which have no analogues in the CIS countries. In particular, a lift equipped with advanced equipment, combining the functions of several units of machinery and designed for loading and unloading, construction and installation, repair, and transport operations.
Representatives of the African country also expressed interest in the cable and wire products manufactured by the "Energokomplekt" production association. Its consumers include enterprises from various industries: energy, oil and gas, construction, mining, and transport.
– Far-arc countries are currently one of the most promising development vectors for our enterprise, which is why we consider Africa and East Asia as directions in which we will be working in the coming five to ten years, – emphasised the company's General Director, Andrey Avko. – The horizons are vast. These countries will develop at an accelerated pace.
The head of the enterprise added that it is necessary to work out logistics and other aspects that would make cooperation more profitable. It may be necessary to pursue intergovernmental agreements, similar to those our country has with Vietnam, where import customs duties were abolished, or with the United Arab Emirates, where they will be gradually reduced.
And "Energokomplekt" guarantees the quality of its products. The cables and wires produced here will withstand both African heat and northern frosts.
