Modern production facilities are constantly becoming more complex and designed with a high degree of reliability. However, achieving absolute accident-free operation is not possible, which raises the question: what should be done, how to protect yourself and your family in the event of an emergency?
To provide timely information about all types of dangers and instructions for protective measures, a warning system has been established in Belarus, operating at the republican, territorial, local, and facility levels.
Emergency warning signals are transmitted via messages through broadcasting and television networks, wired communication, and SMS messages to mobile phones. Sirens are also activated, and signals from vehicles and street loudspeakers are used.
First and foremost, the "Attention all!" warning signal is sounded to attract people's attention. It can be recognized by the sound of electric sirens and other signaling devices lasting for 3 minutes. If you hear such a signal at home, you should immediately turn on your radio receivers or televisions. During this time, an emergency message will be broadcast, detailing the emergency situation and providing all necessary recommendations for subsequent actions.
If you are at work, switch off equipment. Activate the wired broadcasting units located in the notified area, and turn on the radio or television. Inform others about the received signal and prepare to listen to the spoken information. Further actions should be determined directly by these instructions.
Chemically hazardous facilities have their own local warning systems, which must be kept in a constant state of readiness to transmit signals and information.
