FACT. The Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve is the only specially protected natural area of the highest rank – a reserve – on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.

Here, in a wild environment, the "Big European Five" of large mammals reside within one territory – the elk, European bison, brown bear, wolf, and lynx.

The reserve and its adjacent hunting grounds are home to the country's largest brown bear population (at least 75 individuals), with representatives dispersing annually into neighbouring territories.
