The exhibition "Colours of Lepel Region", which opened in the small gallery of the local history museum, was attended by the Director of the National Art Museum, Uladzimir Prakaptsou, who in the late 1970s served as the Second Secretary of the Lepel District Committee of the Belarusian Komsomol.
The guest from the capital presented all the exhibition participants, current and former organisers, with photo albums from the series "Great Artists" featuring reproductions of paintings by the renowned Belarusian artist Ivan Khrutsky. It is worth noting that Uladzimir Prakaptsou is not merely a visitor to the vernissage, but a participant in the exhibition itself, as he exhibited his work "Eternity" there.
This year's exhibition "Colours of Lepel Region" is a jubilee event – the tenth of its kind. It features 46 works by 16 artists. Among them are true masters, renowned artists from Lepel, and young talents. Three artists are participating in "Colours" for the first time.
Tamara Barokha, Head of the Culture Department, presented Certificates of the Culture Department to the exhibition participants.
Each artist deserves attention, and each has found their admirers. Some were drawn to Vladimir Pshonka's "Peonies", others paused by Alena Byazega's "Birch Trees", Marina Samonova's "Bullfinches", and Marina Burtil's "Thistle"…
A group of visitors engaged in a lengthy discussion about the tempera (a painting executed in pigments mixed with egg yolk or a glue solution with oil) of Lyudmila Savchynchyk's "Illusion of Movement".
Everyone found a favourite piece. I involuntarily stopped before Pavel Zharanasek's painting "Outskirts of Verabki Village". Here is a patch of the swift current of a tireless worker. To the right, near the foot of the dam, the riverside thicket of the slow Bereščа presses in. If only one could grab a fishing rod and push through the bushes to the river.
Another painting held me for a long time. It did not frighten with its severity, but attracted with its realism and accurately conveyed greyness, "Winter in Yushki Village" by Ales Sauchanka. One can almost feel the urge to play to their heart's content under the trees of the nearby forest edge, shaggy with frozen ice, and then to warm up in an old village house. A dream arises to wander around Yushki in winter, to experience in reality the world conveyed in oil.
