The XXIV International Festival of Song and Music "Dnipro Voices in Dubrovno" will take place on May 20-21 and will bring together amateur art groups from seven countries, Lyudmila Dudareva, Head of the Ideological Work, Culture and Youth Affairs Department of the Dubrovno District Executive Committee, told a BELTA correspondent.
The XXIV International Festival of Song and Music "Dnipro Voices in Dubrovno" will take place on May 20-21 and will bring together amateur art groups from seven countries, Lyudmila Dudareva, Head of the Ideological Work, Culture and Youth Affairs Department of the Dubrovno District Executive Committee, told a BELTA correspondent.
"This year we are expecting guests from all regions of Belarus, as well as from Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, and Poland. We will greet them in the morning in the central square, where rural councils and agro-towns, schools, and so on will set up their branded homesteads. Here, guests will learn what "Hospitable Dubrovno Region" is and what dishes it is famous for, what games our ancestors played, and what crafts they practiced. Visiting groups will also attend two events on the central stage. For the first time this year, the regional competition of orchestras will be held here – we expect up to 380 musicians! And the festival-competition of traditional whistles "Soloveyka-2017" will bring together masters from all over the region. The best work will be awarded at the closing ceremony on May 21 with a special prize-symbol of the festival – a ceramic nightingale figurine," Lyudmila Dudareva explained.
Towards the evening of May 20, the grand opening of the festival and the concert-presentation of participating groups "Karagod of Talents" will take place on the main stage. Traditionally, after the festive program, guests will gather at the "Rylenkі" memorial complex for a requiem rally to honour the memory of over 10,000 soldiers buried here, who died liberating the district from the fascist invaders.
The first festival day will conclude with musical programs in rural Houses of Culture, where the groups will disperse. In Dubrovno itself, on the main stage, pop artists of the district will organize their show for the audience. The fun can be continued at the night disco in the district House of Culture.
The main venue for the festivities on the second day will be the city stadium, where festival participants will proceed in a theatrical procession along Komsomolskaya Street in the morning. "They will carry the holiday's talisman – a long embroidered towel, sewn from towels brought by all guests. It has become a tradition to come to Dubrovno with one's own bread and salt, which are exchanged on the opening day. And the towels remain and are joined into one large one," explained Lyudmila Dudareva. The stadium will turn into a large fair for the entire day: there will be the crafts festival "Dnyaproŭski Kirmaš," the gala concert with the awards ceremony "Čaruješ i jadnaješ ty, Dnyapro!," the traditional folk ritual of seeing off guests "Pasachi – na lyohkija šljachi," and an evening program with the participation of famous Belarusian pop artists. The city will not sleep until the fireworks over the Dnieper fade, and some will continue to stay awake at night – at the retro disco in the district House of Culture.
