The grand opening of the XXVI International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" will take place today in the Summer Amphitheatre, reports BELTA.
The start of the forum is accompanied by a whole ceremony. It is today, on the territory of the Summer Amphitheatre's cultural and sports complex, that another flag – the festival flag – will be raised alongside the flags of 36 participating countries. A little later, on the nearby Square of Stars, Tamara Gverdtsiteli, the recipient of the Special Prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus "Through Art – to Peace and Understanding", will receive her star. And then, attention will shift from the already recognized star to the artists whose creative path to success is just beginning – the draw for the semi-finals of the XXVI International Pop Song Performers Competition "Vitebsk-2017" will take place in the same location.
Meanwhile, the intrigue of the XV International Children's Music Competition will, on the contrary, be resolved by this time: the gala concert and award ceremony for the winners will take place in the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall during the day. Later in the evening, the Grand Prix winner, among others, will take to the stage of the Summer Amphitheatre at the grand opening concert of the forum. The programme includes beloved artists, long-time friends of the forum, and new faces: Grigory Leps, Tamara Gverdtsiteli, Marina Devyatova, Varvara, Yadviga Poplavskaya, Dmitry Koldun, Teo and Olga Ryzhikova, Roza Rymbaeva, LONDONBEAT, Chris de Burgh, Julio Iglesias Jr., and many others.
Full houses are also expected at other festival venues: in the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall, friends and colleagues will dedicate their performances to Alexander Tikhanovich; at the Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic, the winner of the television show "The Voice", Hieromonk Fotiy, will present his programme. And the celebration will fully embrace the festival streets: the first events of the III Street Art Festival "On Seven Winds" – performances by dancers, musicians, artists, performers, a fire show, and maté tea tasting – will take place at venues near Pushkin Bridge, on Tolstoy Street, near the Centre for Modern Art, and in Frunze Park.
The "Theatre Meetings" project will continue with another comedy on the stage of the Kolas Theatre – this time, the production "The Bride for Rent" by the "Syuzhet" company. And a member of the competition jury, the Italian composer, writer, and artist Depsa, will present an exhibition of his graphic works at the Regional Museum of Local Lore.
