The Vitebsk celebration of author's song is open to poets, artists and performers. "The transformation of the official name, as well as the inclusion of new nominations in the traditional competition: 'Poetic Recitation' and 'Poetry. Free Theme', are evidence of the changes that have occurred," the Culture Centre explained. As for bards, this year they have the opportunity to showcase their talent in one of three categories: "Author's Song. Classic (Author-Performer)", "Author's Song. Classic (Performer)" and "Author's Song. Alternative (Author-Performer)".
The festival will open on October 19 with a night presentation of the exhibition-installation "Manifestation" by artists of the Vitebsk School and a light performance "Night.. Rain.. At the Face.." by the Vitebsk youth theatre "Koleso". The festival laureates and the winner of the special award "Recognition" (another innovation) will be announced at the gala concert in the Vitebsk Concert Hall on October 22 at 16:00.
The programme of this year's "Vitebsky Listopad" includes four major concerts. The Vitebsk Culture Centre once again offers spectators the opportunity to purchase a season ticket for all events of the forum. "Season ticket holders will receive a bonus – the right to enter the evening programme 'For Friends – From Vitebsk', for which tickets will not be sold," the organisers emphasised.
