Some kindergartens in Belarus will be funded under a new scheme - the participants of the pilot project for testing the normative financing of state preschool education institutions in 2019 have been determined by the government, BELTA reports.

In 2019, normative financing will be provided for kindergartens in Baranovichi, Vitebsk, Gomel, Mogilev, Lida, Slonim and Soligorsk districts, and Pervomaisky district of Minsk. This means that the principle of "money follows the student" will be established - funds from the budget will be allocated depending on the number of students.

The government has also determined the basic standard of budgetary provision for the costs of training and education of one pupil in preschool education institutions. For kindergarten pupils in cities and urban-type settlements, it amounts to Br1943.65 per year, and in rural settlements - Br2423.08 per year.

The Ministry of Education will need to submit a report on the results of the pilot project to the Council of Ministers by February 1, 2020.
