The financial police have thwarted an attempt to illegally export scrap and waste of non-ferrous and ferrous metals worth over Br300 million from Belarus to the Russian Federation, the Vitebsk Regional Committee of State Control informed BELTA correspondent.
During operational search activities to follow up on previously received information, on the Brest - Minsk - Russian Federation border highway in the Vitebsk region, employees of the Orsha inter-district department of the Department of Financial Investigations of the Vitebsk Regional State Control Committee detained a vehicle with a trailer belonging to a legal entity from Smolensk, driven by a resident of the Minsk region. This vehicle was used to export almost 27.3 tons of non-ferrous metal scrap and waste worth Br270.5 million from Belarus to Russia.
As a result of another operation on the same section of the road, another vehicle belonging to the same Smolensk company, driven by another resident of the Minsk region, was detained. Over 28 tons of ferrous metal scrap and waste worth more than Br47 million were attempted to be exported to the Russian Federation in this vehicle.
Protocols on administrative offenses have been drawn up against the drivers. Administrative materials against the guilty citizens will be sent to the Dubrovno District Court. -0-
