20 February, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. In 2011, officers of the Department of Financial Investigations of the State Control Committee of Belarus for the Vitebsk region prevented material damage to economic entities amounting to Br8.1 billion, the press service of the regional SCC informed a BELTA correspondent.
Prevention of offences is one of the department's leading activities. Special attention is paid to compliance with the requirements of Directive No. 4 "On the Development of Entrepreneurial Initiative and Stimulation of Business Activity in the Republic of Belarus", which prescribes the predominant use of preventive measures aimed at preventing offences in entrepreneurial activities, the press service emphasised.
In 2011, the department undertook almost 1.8 thousand preventive measures, both general and individual, including issuing 132 recommendations. As a result of their consideration, 16 persons were brought to disciplinary liability, and five officials were dismissed from their positions. Five administrative protocols were drawn up against officials who failed to respond to the department's recommendations, under Article 24.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences of Belarus "Failure to take measures on a private ruling (decision) of a court or a recommendation to eliminate violations of legislation, causes and conditions conducive to committing offences".
As a result of the verification activities carried out by the department in 2011, in particular, the recovery of overdue accounts receivable was ensured for seven economic entities of the Vitebsk region with state ownership, thereby preventing damage to the state amounting to Br6.15 billion.-0-
