On January 28, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The "Learning Region" forum will bring together experts from Belarus, Lithuania and Germany in Vitebsk on January 31 - February 1, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed BELTA correspondent.
More than 100 representatives of local and regional government bodies, educational, cultural and social protection institutions, non-governmental, non-profit organizations, private educational institutions, employers' and business associations, including Lithuanian and German specialists in this project, will take part in the event.
The main topic of the forum will be the discussion of the possibilities for implementing the concept of "Learning Region/City" in Belarus. For this purpose, participants will be introduced to the concept of "Learning Region" and the experience of its implementation in Germany, as well as the results of the study "Educational Needs of Region Residents" conducted in the Vitebsk and Minsk regions in 2013. The meeting is the final event of the project "Learning Region: Education for All Generations", implemented within the framework of support for Belarus by the Federal Government of Germany together with Belarusian and German partners and supported by the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
Belarusian experts, together with foreign colleagues, will discuss issues of adult continuing education management, the role of continuing education in the development of rural areas and improving the quality of life of socially vulnerable population groups, and the link between sustainable development strategies and educational projects within working groups. The discussion on the prospects for implementing the "Learning Region" concept in Belarus will be held in an open space format.
