The photo-documentary exhibition "We Brought This Day Closer As Much As We Could" dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders will open on June 18 at the "Atrium" gallery of the National Library of Belarus. This was reported to BELTA by the library.
This is the second part of the "Towards Victory" project; the first part opened on May 3 and featured book and art exhibitions.
The exhibition stands will unfold the entire history of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. Documentary information and photographs of war events will tell about the treacherous attack of Army Group Centre, the fierce battles near the Brest Fortress, and heroic deeds. Thanks to the collected materials, one can learn more about the genocide, the bloody terror of the Nazis, the camp for Soviet prisoners of war and civilians, as well as the unprecedented in its scale and persistence resistance to the occupation – the partisan movement that unfolded in Belarus.
The exhibition also reflects the results of the desperate struggle for freedom: the Belarusian operation "Bagration", the liberation of the capital of Belarus on July 3, 1944, and the awarding of the honorary title "Hero City" to Minsk. The exhibition will be complemented and adorned by an exhibition structure of a red star, which will literally ignite the fire of memory and victory in the project's art gallery. Flags from the collections of the State Museum of Military History will become part of the structure.
The project is organised by the National Library in conjunction with the National Archives and the State Museum of Military History of Belarus.
