On February 3, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB) has submitted a draft resolution to the Council of Ministers on the organisation of mandatory hot meals at enterprises and organisations, the Deputy Chairperson of the FTUB, Elena Mankevich, told journalists today.
According to her, the document will be signed in the near future, and the organisation of conditions for normal employee nutrition will become a social guarantee. "The Ministry of Labour and the trade unions will control this process. In addition, the employer's obligation to create conditions for meals is already being included in all collective agreements," added Elena Mankevich.
According to the trade unions, there are currently about 1.4 thousand factory buffets and canteens operating in the country. "This is extremely small," believes the Deputy Chairperson of the FTUB. Where it is not possible to open own catering facilities, it is advisable to create meal rooms and equip them with the necessary inventory. The trade unions are ready to provide employers with all possible assistance in this.
Among the first to feel the support of the Federation of Trade Unions were the employees of Vitebsk OJSC "KIM". For all 14 divisions of the enterprise, where meal rooms are being equipped, the trade unions have purchased microwave ovens, kettles, and sets of dishes. As Elena Mankevich noted, this was requested by the employees themselves at a meeting with the Chairman of the FTUB, Leonid Kozik. However, the trade unions will not limit themselves to this support for the joint-stock company, which is currently experiencing financial difficulties. By the beginning of the summer holidays, the children's health resort "Chaika" will be renovated, and vouchers for the children of the enterprise's employees will be subsidised by the trade unions.
According to Elena Mankevich, about 90% of trade union dues are directed by the FTUB to provide assistance to enterprise trade union committees and trade union members.-0-
