Ten residents of Lepel participated in the regional winter Spartakiad of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM) activists in the village of Malye Letsy. This time, it was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the formation of the Vitebsk region.
Target shooting and penalty laps, winter football and linoleum walking… The organisers devised over a dozen contests to test the endurance of working youth. That day, the snow at the "Energetik" children's health camp was indeed "hot".

The main goal of this event was not to identify the best athletes, but to unite and entertain young people. Therefore, the teams were formed not on a regional basis, but by drawing lots. Thus, Dina Ignatovich, a teacher at the Lepel Agrarian-Technical College, brought home a gold medal. Natalya Kuzmicheonok, a dispatcher at SPF "Zaozerie", participated in the team that took second place. Pavel Zanko's team came in third.

The participants demonstrated their physical abilities and ingenuity. For example, in the "Crossword" contest, the hidden word was deciphered through an relay: they solved mathematical problems and calculated the required letter of the alphabet. In "Tire Golf," it was not easy for the young men: they transported "valuable cargo" – the girls – down the hill on huge wheels. There was also a place for a game that everyone remembers from childhood – "Dodgeball". Moreover, winter and summer sports were not differentiated: they kicked a ball across a snowy field and shot at targets with paintball guns. For missed shots, just like in real biathlon, there were penalty seconds. The sports festival concluded with a disco.
