To prevent and deter road traffic accidents involving drunk drivers, the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Vitebsk region is conducting preventive measures titled "Drunk drivers have no place behind the wheel!" from June 11 to June 20, 2018.

The State Automobile Inspectorate is carrying out specific work to detain and prosecute drivers operating vehicles while intoxicated. Thus, during the current period of 2018, 46 drivers operating vehicles while intoxicated have been detained in the Lepel district.

Despite severe penalties, ranging from 50 to 100 base units, and a 3-year driving ban, some individuals are not deterred and repeatedly violate the law, driving vehicles without a license, and even while intoxicated. They are also unconcerned about the fact that such an offense carries criminal prosecution and vehicle confiscation.

Every decent and law-abiding citizen will not drive after consuming alcohol and will warn others about the inadmissibility of driving a vehicle while intoxicated. They will also not ride as a passenger if the driver is drunk.

A responsible person, in order to prevent road accidents and preserve human life and health, upon seeing that a driver is drunk, or a person in an intoxicated state attempts to get behind the wheel, or is in a state of intoxication near the roadway, will immediately call tel: 102.

Let's stop this misfortune together, preserving our health and lives, and those of our loved ones!
