Since the start of the cycling season, traffic accidents involving mechanical vehicles colliding with cyclists at road crossings have been recorded across the republic.
A contributing factor to these accidents is the failure of cyclists to comply with the requirements of clause 151 of the Traffic Regulations (when approaching a road crossing, a cyclist must reduce speed in advance and, having ensured that entering the roadway is safe, cross it at a walking pace).
Failure to comply with any of the requirements contained in clause 151 of the Traffic Regulations constitutes an administrative offence (out of 36 violations of clause 151 of the Traffic Regulations this year, 31 violations, i.e. 86%, have been documented by officials of the Department of State Automobile Inspectorate of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee).
Based on the foregoing, the Department of State Automobile Inspectorate of the Lepel District Department of Internal Affairs will take additional measures aimed at preventing road traffic injuries to cyclists and ensuring their safety.
